Sonja Risteska, Agora Energiewende

Talk title: Power decarbonisation in the region and learning’s from the German energy transition

Sonja Risteska is the Project Officer for Southeast Europe in Agora Energiewende in Berlin, Germany working on two projects called South East Europe Energy Transition Dialogue and Western Balkans Energy Transition Dialogue (WeBET Dialogue). Before coming to Agora in 2018, she was the Research and Management Coordinator in Analytica think tank from Skopje Macedonia. She has relevant working experience and has conducted in-depth policy research on many pressing energy and environmental matters in Macedonia and the region of South East Europe. Sonja Risteska has authored, co-authored and contributed to more than 30 policy papers, briefs, studies etc. on energy and environmental topics. She holds a BA in Political Science and MA in European Studies.

Oliver Sartor, IDDRI

Talk title: Long-term energy and climate planning in the EU: insights on good practice from national experience

Oliver Sartor is a Research Fellow at IDDRI with a specialisation in European climate policy, deep decarbonisation scenarios, coal sector transition policies and the decarbonisation of energy-intensive materials industries. Before joining IDDRI, Oliver Sartor worked for
CDC Climat, a subsidiary of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations in France, and for the Center for Energy and Environment Markets (CEEM) at the University of New South Wales in Sydney (Australia). He holds an Honours Degree in Economics and a Bachelors Degree in Arts from the University of New South Wales.

Goran Krajacic, FSB, Uni Zagreb

Panelist: Climate mitigation and energy in Southeast Europe: the road ahead!

Dr. sc. Goran Krajacic is assistant professor at the Department of Energy, Power and Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FSB), University of Zagreb. In 2012 he successfully defended PhD thesis “The Role of Energy Storage in Planning of 100% Renewable Energy Systems”. He has worked on many national and international projects dealing with renewable energy sources, energy planning and policy and energy storage. Currently he is coordinating FSB participation at the
EU projects PHOENIX and KeepWarm. He published 37 papers in SCIE/CC journals cited more than 1000
times.

Dimitar Dimitrovski, Consultant for IFC

Panelist: Practical experiences from the region in developing renewable energy projects and legislation

Dimitar Dimitrovski is consultant with 20 years of experience in consulting public and private sector clients. During his career Dimitar has worked in countries of South Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and Middle East and North Africa. He worked for the Government of Macedonia, as a Head of Legal Department of the Ministry of Economy (Energy) and as Head of Legal Department in Macedonia’s Antitrust Authority.As of 2010 Dimitar works for International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group), specializing in designing legal and policy solutions for enabling energy sector investments, designing regulation and standard contracts (concessions, electricity offtake, grid connection). He focuses in renewable energy (RE) generation investments and RE market integration solutions. Dimitar advises private sector clients and banks in tailoring RE project financing legal solutions and related regulatory and market risks linked to specific transactions.

Nihad Harbas, nLogic 

Panelist: Practical experiences from the region in developing renewable energy projects and legislation

Nihad Harbas is one of the leading RE&EE Expert in BiH. His fields of expertise include BiH, Western Balkan and European Energy & Climate Change issues with strong knowledge of existing legislative framework in BiH related to the EU directive on RE&EE. His focus is RE on the BiH processes of reforming of the energy sector according to the European experience and practice but also Energy Community Treaty and its obligations towards BIH. He is currently working as a Adviser on projects for the international & local institutions and as Coordinator for Renewable Energy supporting MOFTER in Suistainable Energy Transition. He is Founder & Consultant in nLogic advisory - an expert platform (Think Tank), based in Sarajevo that provides services in the area of Climate Change, Energy and Environment as well as sustainable development.

Pippa Gallop, CEE Bankwatch Network

Talk title: How to make the energy transition just? The challenges of coal phase out in Southeast Europe

Pippa Gallop is research coordinator for CEE Bankwatch Network, an NGO which seeks to prevent harmful environmental and social impacts from public development finance. Based in Zagreb, Pippa is focusing on preventing public financial support for new coal and inappropriate hydropower projects in southeast Europe and
supporting local groups to develop their campaigns in this field.

Talk title: First crowdinvesting campaign for solar energy in Croatia: how it came about and what can we learn?

Eco-activist, community energy specialist, co-owner and member of green energy cooperative. Low-carbon cities visionary. Master of electrical engineering. And a permaculture gardener. 

Edo Jerkic, Renewable energy sources of Croatia 

Panelist: Practical experiences from the region in developing renewable energy projects and legislation

Edo has been working in development and consultancy in the renewable energy field for over ten years, and is currently the head of engineering in Megjoule, a company that is specialised in technical consultancy, and primarily in the area of wind and solar energy. Besides this he is the CEO of his own company Vivo Somnia that is active in the same field. From its very beginning he has been a member of the Cooperative for Ethical Financing and is currently leading the energy segment of the coop. Besides this he is the board member of the Renewable Energy Sources of Croatia.
